1) BRIAN MASON MESSAGE ABOUT COMPLACENCY 16th. FEBRUARY 2013

But they cried out, Away with him, away with him, crucify him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar.

St John chapter 19 verse 15

The cry away with him, crucify him has resounded down the ages. Has there been anyone more despised and rejected than Jesus Christ? The times in which we live are no more accepting of Jesus than those of the past. What we do see, tough, is because of all the means of communication today is the full extent worldwide of how Jesus is still rejected.

No one has been treated more appallingly than Jesus even though the Word of God declared of Him:

Then said I, Lo, I come: In the volume of the book it is written of me.

Psalm 40 verse 7

Jesus had come to do the will of the Father. He had left the glory of heaven with the purpose of reconciling sinners who had been cut off from a holy and righteous God. Sin had brought spiritual death to all mankind and it could only be through the sacrificial death of Jesus that sinners could have their sin forgiven and be brought into communication with God. The Word of God leaves no room for complacency when it comes to knowing mankind’s position before God.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans chapter 6 verse 23

Sin means death. Man had been created a living soul by God.

And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

Genesis chapter 2 verse 7

Adam the first man was created perfect by God. However, he sinned through his disobedience and because of this sin entered into the whole human race and although each human being still has a soul which lives beyond physical death only those who have been reconciled to God through Jesus can receive eternal life. Everyone who does not repent of their sin and receive the gift of eternal life will remain cut off from God for ever and spend eternity in hell, that is a life in torment. Jesus himself in His teaching made this clear when he spoke of the rich man and Lazarus. Of the rich man Jesus said:

And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

St Luke chapter 16 verse 23

There is a great need in our day to once more know the convicting power of the Holy Spirit to show sinners their sin and create within them the terrors of the prospect of spending eternity in hell. O Lord God grant once more that there will be preachers who are filled with unction and the power of God which convicts sinners and send sounds from heaven so that souls will find no rest until they cry out in repentance and are reconciled to God through the cleansing power of the blood of Jesus Christ. Lord the need of the day is to blast through the complacency of your Church so that there is such a seeking after holiness and lives which will lay down everything for you that there is a spiritual awakening amongst your people which overflows amongst the unsaved.

The same cry as was heard at Jesus’ trial, that of away with him, crucify him is still in hearts today. It may not be the same words but how true the following scripture is for the present day:

We will not have this man to reign over us.

St Luke chapter 19 verse 14

Wherever Jesus is not accepted as the eternal Son of God and the only way by which sinners can be reconciled with God and forgiven of their sin then that person is saying I will not have this man to reign over me. This is every bit the same with those who may think they are Christians but follow another Jesus and belong to the false church.Whenever Bible versions are used which only speak of Jesus as a son of the gods that is one amongst other gods then there has been a rejection of the deity of Jesus. In effect these so called Christians are saying we will not have this man to reign over us every bit as much as those who openly reject Jesus as God. Are we alive to this deception which is subtly sweeping vast numbers into hell because they have not accepted the God given way of salvation.

May the remnant Church hear from the Lord to stand up and call sinners to repentance to avoid going to hell. O for men and women who are so full of the Holy Spirit that their lives have the holiness of God, lives set apart from the uncleanness of both the world and the liberal teaching of much that goes under the name of Christianity. Let us seek God afresh to hear the sounds from heaven, those sounds which convict sinners of their sin and set apart God’s people as holy and still following the teachings of the New Testament. Lord, grant us a Pentecost in our day and revive your Church, the true Church which gives you alone the pre eminence.

 2) Message 29 11 12

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; that in all things he might have the pre-eminence.

Colossians chapter 1 verse 18

The Lord Jesus Christ has taken His place at the right hand of the Father. As Christians we know that He is risen, ascended and glorified. Our blessed Saviour and Lord is far above every principality and power and every name that is named. Our eyes are upon Jesus for He is the one who is building His Church. Does not the word of God inspire us when we read:

I will build my Church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail.

St Matthew chapter 16 verse 18

Although our Lord spoke these words to Peter they can never be seen as the Church being built upon Peter. Peter was fallible as he had denied his Lord three times. The Church could only be built on solid ground; that which is divine, infallible and unmovable. Only Jesus as the eternal Son of God could have met these essential requirements otherwise the Church would never have stood the test of time. It is not on sinking sand that the Church has been built but upon Jesus our blessed rock.

The body of Christ is the Church. This is not the physical building of stone or brick or wood that many mistakenly think the church to be. The Church is those who know Jesus Christ as both Saviour and Lord. The Church is the priesthood of all believers. Peter shows that the believer has been brought into a special position in Christ.

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light.

1 Peter chapter 2 verse 9

This position whereby the believer is part of a royal priesthood is sadly overlooked by the Church. This should be the norm rather than the position of the few. The first step to be taken to become a living stone in the Church is to accept Jesus Christ as the only Saviour. Each one in the world whoever they may be or whatever religion they follow or have no religious faith is a sinner. For the Bible states this to be the case.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.

Romans chapter 3 verse 23

Not only have all sinned but all are condemned.

For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Romans chapter 6 verse 23

Our text for this message speaks of Jesus being the first born from the dead. He who had no sin was prepared to die for sinners. God Himself took responsibility to provide the way of reconciliation for sinners. God cannot look upon sin. Each person is under the condemnation of sin which means that there is no communication with God and all are spiritually dead and unless brought to spiritual life will at physical death be cut off from God forever. Praise God, though, the remedy had been prepared even before the foundation of the world. Our blessed Saviour came to our aid. At what cost Jesus suffered in order to pay the price for sin. He set His face to Calvary’s cross and there through the shedding of His own blood made the only acceptable sacrifice whereby sinners could be reconciled with God.

Have you come to God the God given way and know the forgiveness of sin? For the Bible as the authoritative word of God makes clear that there is only one way and that is through Jesus.

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Saint John chapter 14 verse 6

It is not by works of your own, or any merits of your own for all our righteousness is as filthy rags in the sight of an holy and righteous God. To know the forgiveness of sin and be restored into communication with God requires that we accept that Jesus has already done all for us. He died for our sins and as we repent of our sin and ask Him to be our Saviour He will forgive us. Sinner ask Him to take all your sin and nail it to the cross. See yourself for what you are corrupt to the core but Jesus will cleanse you from your sin. What joy and peace comes to those who know Jesus. A new life is ours. The believer becomes a partaker of a new life; one whereby the resurrection life of Jesus becomes our own. This is because as Jesus became the first born from the dead the believer also receives eternal life. The new believer also becomes part of the body of Christ, the Church. What a privileged position to be in but alas most today have no concept of this position.

Why you might ask is there no concept of the believers position in Christ. The main reason is that Jesus Christ is not given His rightful position in the lives of the majority of believers. He may be Saviour but not Lord. Unless Jesus is given the pre-eminence His body the Church will be a place of spiritual poverty. Where there are those who attend church but still practice sin that church is dead. Where a church has freemasons amongst its congregation that church is dead. Where self is on the throne of the lives of those who attend that church is dead.

The call today is for the Lord Jesus Christ to be given His rightful place in the lives of all who call themselves Christian. This is to let Jesus have every last part of our lives. None of self but all of Him. May the Lord reveal where there is sin in the Church and bring those Satanic forces at work through freemasonry to light so that it can be confessed and repented of or if there is no repentance then driven out for none of these have a place in the body of Christ.
It is only when the body of Christ starts to confess their sins and all that does not acknowledge the pre-eminence of Christ brought into acknowledging His pre-eminence that the breath of God in revival will come upon His Church. Have you given Jesus His rightful place in your life?

Lord Jesus Christ you are the head of your body the Church. You alone died for our sins and rose triumphant over death for our justification. May your Church know what is to be a royal priesthood, a people who are holy, righteous and pure. Lord in these days the churches have little or no understanding of what the body of Christ is to be. In your mercy, Lord, show those who attend church but still practice sin what you did at Calvary in order to bring forgiveness of sin. Lord drive all sin out from your body the Church so that it is set apart for yourself. Lord, may the Holy Spirit bring each member of your Church to let you reign in their life so that you are given your rightful place as you receive the pre-eminence. This prayer seeks only to bring honour and glory to the name of our God. Amen.

3)

And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them.

1 Samuel chapter 8 verse 7

Samuel’s life had been totally dedicated to God. He had not lived to please himself but to obey God. What a contrast to the self centred and easy going so called Christianity of today. It cost Samuel everything to be in the place where he heard the voice of God. The same can be said for example of Abraham, Moses and Paul and everyone who has been mightily used of God. They were in such a relationship with God that they heard God’s voice and obeyed. One example is:

Now the Lord had said unto Abram, get thee out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and from thy father’s house, unto a land that I will shew thee.

Genesis chapter 12 verse 1

There was no questioning from Abraham. He simply obeyed. It was because of this obedience that God was able to make His covenant with Abraham for all the nations to be blessed through Abraham.

And in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; because thou hast obeyed my voice.

Genesis chapter 22 verse 18

In this verse the emphasis is again on obedience. This is what God looks for but does he always find for had He done so there would be in the Church today a separation from all that is unclean.

Coming back to Samuel it is recorded that he had made his sons judges over Israel. However, these sons were not separated from all that is unclean.

And his sons walked not in his ways, but turned aside after lucre, and took bribes, and perverted judgement.

1 Samuel chapter 8 verse 3

It is sad that Samuel’s sons had not followed the godly ways of their father but this had also been the case with Eli’s sons when Samuel had been much younger. How these examples make clear that our relationship with God is an individual walk. What heartache there has been and still is for godly parents to see their children not walking in the ways of the Lord.

The elders of Israel were concerned that as Samuel was growing old and his sons were not following the ways of the Lord there was no one who could take the place of Samuel. Although these were the elders of Israel they did not have a spiritual concept. Their thinking was along natural lines. They did not bring God into their thinking but looked at the nations around them and wanted to follow the ways of these other nations and have a king to rule over them. This request displeased Samuel so being the godly man who he was, totally reliant upon the Lord, he brought the matter to God in prayer. Should this not be the way of the Christian at all times and not just at moments of crisis?

What an answer Samuel received. God told Samuel to do that which they had requested. The elders in their request had not rejected Samuel but God states that it was He who they had rejected. The people had continually turned away from God since God had delivered them from Egypt and gone after other gods. They had been a disobedient people and this was their ultimate rejection of God. Although Saul who became their king disobeyed God and had to be replaced by David it is seen in the scriptures that God still worked out His own purposes as it was to be from the line of David that Jesus Christ was born. O what a God we have in that He is sovereign and will work out all things according to His purposes even when there is an unwillingness to obey.

Today there is still that spirit of disobedience even amongst those who call themselves Christian. How true are the following words which Jesus used in a parable but can be seen to apply to Himself:

We will not have this man to reign over us.

St Luke chapter 19 verse 14

Have you let the Lord Jesus Christ rule over every part of your life so that you are separate from all that is unclean? This is the only way by which we can walk in the heavenly places. To get to that place whereby we can dwell with the Father, the Saviour and the Holy Ghost dwell costs all. Self cannot go there. It is a continual dying to all that is natural and being crucified with Christ by taking up our cross daily. Only those who are cleansed vessels in whom the Holy Ghost lives His own life as God and manifests Christ through us can reach these heights. Once in the heavenly places, though, there is nothing on earth which can compare. This is the place where the Lord Jesus Christ is at the right hand of the Father having all power in heaven and on earth. It is the only place by which we can receive the power so lacking in ministry today. Would you like to get to this place. If so it will cost you everything.

Lord Jesus Christ take the pre eminence in your remnant Church today for the majority of Christianity has gone off after other gods. There has been a rejection of the need for repentance of sin and cleansing through your own blood in order to receive forgiveness. Your death on the cross is as though it never happened. Yet, Lord, there is a place where you dwell with the Father and the Holy Ghost, that place in the heavenly places. Few, Lord, are interested in seeking to walk in the heavenly places for this comes at the cost which accepts your conditions in order to get there; conditions of total obedience whereby the Holy Ghost takes over our bodies and we become fully consecrated and entirely sanctified. This prayer seeks only to bring honour and glory to the name of our God. Amen.

4)
The Highest Life of All

For he satisfieth the longing soul, and filleth the hungry soul with goodness.

Psalm 107 verse 9

How hungry am I for God?  Is this a question which is even being asked today?  The question must be asked within the remnant Church as the remnant Church is the only place where God is taken seriously.

What has happened to the Church for it to be in such a backslidden state?  It has lost its first love for Christ and with this to seek to be like Christ.  What is the highest life of all ?  This is nothing less than complete union with Christ.  Instead what takes place in the Church today ( by that I mean the Church which is not the remnant Church) ?
A going after other gods with the syncretisation of both Christian and pagan worship where another Jesus is worshipped.  Have you noticed that Jesus in nearly all versions of the Bible today is no longer given His rightful place as the eternal Son of God and therefore not equal with the Father.

Without an understanding of the pre eminence of Christ there is no rock to stand upon for Christ is no longer the rock in those churches which fail to give Him the pre eminence which He has to be given. If ever there was a time when the following scripture needs to be written on the hearts of God’s people it is now.
Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you.
2 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 17
A time has come when God is calling upon His remnant Church.  How otherwise can this be when the rest of the Church has gone away from Him and not only will not hear His voice but has become incapable of hearing His voice.

This is why the remnant Church which became increasingly marginalised from the mainstream churches is now totally rejected. Rejected of man but precious in the sight of God.  Set apart for a purpose, that is, God’s own purpose to fulfil all He still has to do.  What is this purpose.  It is for Christ to present His bride the Church to the Father, a Church without spot or blemish.

And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

Revelation chapter 21 verse 2

What word does the above verse contain which should speak to the depths of our hearts?  This is the word holy.  Where is the emphasis on holiness today?  It is as if scriptural holiness is no longer seen as essential.  Yet to the born again Christian this should be seen in our lives because God calls believers to holiness.  Sinners are called to repentance and believers to holiness.

It is as though the teaching of holiness is no longer considered essential.  It is not just essential but imperative that there is a turning back to scriptural holiness for how otherwise can the life of Christ be manifested through the believer.

There is a vast difference between the birth of the Spirit in regeneration and the indwelling of the Holy Spirit as a person who alone can bring complete union with Christ,  for He, the Holy Spirit is the only one on earth today who can live a life like Christ.  Each one who knows Christ as Saviour and Lord needs to seek to have the Holy Spirit taking full control of his or her life so as to know the full meaning of entire sanctification and complete union with Christ.

What a glorious prospect, except where do we still hear this message today?    It was the message of the holiness movements in the past.  Why not today?  Because it costs everything.  I well remember the Holy Spirit’s dealings with me.

When He came in to dwell within me He came in as God and I went out.  One by one areas of my life were dealt with but He did not take them away from me until I agreed.  It was not a case of simply taking away as he brought His own life in, a life which has a divine nature, a nature like that of Christ.

This is complete union with Christ.  The Holy Spirit is then able to do His own work through His vessel.  Is this not where the body of Christ should be?  Not man or woman thinking how best to do God’s work but God doing His own work through human vessels whom He indwells.

What I have stated is still as in line with scripture today as it was in the lifetime of Rees Howells, the founder of the original Bible College Of Wales.   What Rees Howells and other holiness preachers of the early twentieth century and especially at the Keswick convention taught is supported by scripture.

It is as if today the following scripture does not exist.

What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

1 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 19

Not your own yet even in the remnant Church there is a lack of understanding to hear this not as a challenge but that it was a norm in the days of the early Church.  Why is it not a norm today?

Because Christianity has become a comfort zone rather than a battleground.  It is only going to be those who are in complete union with Christ who will not only survive but triumph in the last days prior to the return of Christ.  So great will be the deceptions of Satan and so destructive his tactics to seek to destroy the Church.
This is why it is imperative that Christians today have the Holy Spirit living His life within them as no one else will be able to withstand the onslaught of Satan. Further proof of giving our bodies to the Holy Spirit as an accepted norm of the early Church is
:

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.

Romans chapter 12 verse 1

All has to be on God’s terms and this is another scripture to confirm God’s way for believers. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.   For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

Colossians chapter 3 verses 2 and 3

The remnant Church is God’s chosen instrument for Him to use in these days of apostasy.  How can it be otherwise as the rest of Christianity has allowed the world to take over and rejected God for where is the evidence of scriptural holiness?    The standards are high as they are set by God Himself.   This is for total separation from the world and its standards which are not God’s.   This is His standard.

Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter chapter 1 verse 16

This is scriptural holiness.  The standard believers are called to attain could not be more clear.  This was evidenced in lives when the Holy Spirit came to indwell the early believers at Pentecost.  This message is as one calling in the wilderness today for a return to the standard of holiness and to hunger after  the Holy Spirit until  He comes in to indwell the believer as a person.

How else will the Church rediscover its purpose and in doing so receive the power and authority to fulfil this purpose.  Not that we are sufficient of ourselves, it is the Holy Spirit doing His work through us when we have given Him full control of our lives. Are you satisfied of where you are with Christ?

Does He fill not only your soul with goodness but because you are so filled with Him as the Holy Spirit saturates you with a life like that of Christ  is your one desire is to be more and more like Christ with each passing day.

True hunger is seeking for more of Christ and receiving all He has to give us.  The unregenerate and the carnal Christian know none of this.   O to be in complete union with Christ for it is Christ through the person of the Holy Spirit living His life through  those who have become His  to the extent that although you may not be conscious of this you so manifest the presence of Christ that others feel Christ’s presence and are drawn to Him through you.

That is God’s standard of holiness being met and ourselves being fulfilled for we are fully satisfied in God for He dwells within us.  We become so at one with Him that He becomes our thoughts, our words, our actions, our whole life. Is there anything more complete on earth then to be able to say like Paul:

I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I , but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God , who loved me, and gave himself for me.

Galatians chapter 2 verse 20

5) BRIAN MASON MESSAGE - 21 02 13

And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there.

Acts of the Apostles chapter 20 verse 22

Paul was a man mightily used by God. As far as both the world and Judaism was concerned prior to his conversion he could not have been better qualified or more acceptable. Yet years later in his epistle to the Philippians Paul was able to say:

But the things which were gain to me, those I count loss for Christ.

Philippians chapter 3 verse 7

Paul had been a proud man full of his own power and importance going about believing that he was doing the work of God by seeking to prevent the spread of the message of Jesus Christ. What a transformation, though, after he met the Lord of glory Himself on the road to Damascus. No more self sufficiency then but instead to be yielded in full surrender to a mightier power than he had previously known, that of the power of God

.Not only had Paul met another mightier power than himself but the same happened with Peter and John and all who throughout the centuries have been vessels of God through whom He has used in mighty ways. Paul knew what it was to have the same Holy Spirit who had come on the day of Pentecost living in him a life which manifested the life of Christ wherever he went. The Holy Spirit had so replaced the human nature with the divine that it was the Holy Spirit living His own life through him for a lost world. Paul’s life was so divinely in the Holy Spirit that he knew the Holy Spirit was holding him and guiding him.

Paul was so at one with the Holy Spirit that his thoughts and words were those of the Holy Spirit. This is why Paul could say I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem. Paul knew he would go to Jerusalem because the Holy Spirit had shown him that this must be. Similar experiences of being so at one with the Holy Spirit have occurred with God’s chosen vessels wherever He has been able to find someone who has been prepared to accept God’s invitation on God’s conditions.

That God’s conditions have to be accepted is because we read that:I am the Lord: that is my name:

And my glory will I not give to another.

Isaiah chapter 42 verse 8

Paul would have known this scripture. I believe that he was so humbled when He met Jesus on the Damascus road that this experience was similar to that of Isaiah had when he also had seen the Lord.

Then said I, Woe is me! For I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips :for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

Isaiah chapter 6 verse 5I

like Isaiah have experienced seeing myself even after conversion as a man of unclean lips. This is because of self which is corrupt to the core. I am not speaking of sin here for sin has been dealt with at conversion. No here I am speaking of the effects of the fall of man because by nature even a Christian can live for him or her self, their family and friends. We can still be very selfish people who take our Christianity very lightly because we do not see God for who He is.

Above everything else God is Holy. What does the Word of God call us to be?

Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.

1 Peter chapter 1 verse 16

In our day it is as though many who call themselves Christian have never heard of this verse. There is no respect for the holiness of God. There is no sense of the One who is the creator and sustains all things by His power. Instead God is treated with familiarity as though He was only there to be asked to meet our selfish wants. Where is hunger and thirst after God Himself and His holiness? Unless the Church becomes serious and becomes hungry and thirsty after God we will not see revival. There has to be obedience to God’s Word. When the Word calls us to be holy we are to seek God as individuals and not let him go for we need the Holy Spirit to come and live His own life in us. It is only when as individuals we become serious and act in earnest that God will respond.

There will be no response to the counterfeit church like that of the charismatic and other similar self centred churches. These only manifest the flesh as there is nothing of the holiness of the Holy Spirit in their meetings. These follow another Jesus and because they do so manifest the works of the devil. They seek to influence people rather than give God His rightful place and can be seen to be false because they are devoid of both the Holy presence of God and His power.Which way have you chosen? The way of the self centred counterfeit life or the life of the Holy Spirit living His life of holiness in you.

You may not have been deceived by the counterfeit church but you may also not be fully surrendered to God and although saying you are a Christian still live unto yourself. We are in serious days where only the remnant Church will be able to stand. That is those who like Paul can say for me to live is Christ and to die is gain. Have we died to self because the Holy Spirit alone lives His life through us rather than ourselves in charge?

Brother, sister if you are serious and have seen the holiness of God you will only want the Holy Spirit to live His life in you, a life like that of Jesus himself. It is a painful process to reach the place of being at one with the Holy Spirit but until we do so we are like the majority who call themselves Christian today we would not frighten the devil and destroy his strongholds because we have no power. This is what the church today apart from the remnant church is like a church so inward looking that it does not have the power of God for the glory has departed as God is not to be found in these churches.

6) Message: 23 April 2014

And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see.

2 Kings chapter 6 verse 17

What a sight confronted the servant of Elisha.  It was daunting; it appeared overwhelming.  There before his eyes surrounding the city of Dothan was a great host of men together with horses and chariots. “And when the servant of the man of God was risen early, and gone forth, behold, an host compassed the city both with horses and chariots. And his servant said unto him, alas, my master how shall we do?” (2 kings 6:15)   These men had come to Dothan at the command of the king of Syria with one purpose which was to capture Elisha. The king of Syria had made war against the king of Israel. However, Elisha had been able to send warning of the king of Syria’s whereabouts unto the king of Israel and in doing so protect the king of Israel. “And the man of God sent unto the king of Israel, saying, beware that thou pass not such a place; for thither the Syrians are come down.” (2 Kings 6:9)

How hopeless the situation appeared to the servant of Elisha. The servant could only see what was open to his natural mind. Elisha’s servant was like most people today. There is no understanding of the spiritual life. Instead life consists of the needs of the body and the soul without any understanding that man is a spirit who also has a body and a soul. “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.” (1 Corinthians 2:14)  Elisha was altogether different from his servant even though he had the same sight of a great host together with horses and chariots. Elisha saw from God’s standpoint.  Elisha was not daunted, bowed down or even discouraged.  Elisha saw the majesty of His God.  He saw His God whom the nations were just as a drop in a bucket.  Elisha saw God as Almighty in His sovereign power ruling and reigning so that His own purposes would be fulfilled according to His Word.

O what a God we have when we see Him as did Elisha. To do so we have to enter the kingdom of God. Jesus made this plain to Nicodemus when He said “Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God.” (John 3:3) Even those who accept that Jesus has bought them a pardon for their sin through the shedding of His blood on the cross may not be fully abandoned to Him. Their lives may still be seen as their own rather than His and fail to enter into receiving the second blessing of entire sanctification through the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Weak Christians who fail  to move into all that God has for them are like Elisha’s servant who still live in the flesh and are a prey to discouragement from the Devil. God, however, seeks fully abandoned men and women who like Elisha are mighty because they are fully committed to all God’s will as they have laid their lives down and obeyed the command of Jesus “If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.” (Luke 9:23)

We will be held back from pressing on into all that is available to us in Christ when we can only see through the natural mind. Elisha represents a man who has lost sight of everything which is in the natural.  He saw as God saw and in doing this, unlike his servant, he saw the mountain full of horses and chariots of fire sent from the LORD.  The hosts from the glory had been sent to protect Elisha and ensure that God’s will rather than the Devil’s hindrance won the day.

This is the same in our own lives.  Are we weighed down with looking at whatever is before us from the natural point of view?  This should never enter the minds of those who are filled with the Holy Spirit for to be filled with the Holy Spirit is to have the mind of Christ.  As we constantly lift our hearts to Jesus we see the one who is the author and finisher of our faith.  This beloved Christ who has captivated our hearts and won every last particle of our love will not leave us nor forsake us.  What an assurance, what a Savior.  He saves us to the uttermost.  Let us press on growing more and more into Himself as we see from His perspective.  His perspective has to be that we are complete in Him both now whilst in His service and for all eternity.
