The Dry Ground & Suffering

1)  For I will pour water upon him that is thirsty, And floods upon the dry ground.

Isaiah chapter 44 verse 3

Lord Jesus Christ my heart is filled with awe at the magnitude of who you are and what you have done and what you continue to do. No one has love like yours for you the spotless Lamb of God laid down His life for the ungodly so that whosoever will repent of their sin can be reconciled with a holy and righteous God. Yet, Lord, repentance is only the entrance into life, your life as the reconciled sinner becomes a son of God, a partaker of your own resurrection life.

Sadly, Lord, that is as far as the majority of those born again unto a new life are prepared to go. There is no hungering or thirsting to seek a life which walks in the heavenly places where you dwell with the Father and the Holy Spirit. This promise contained in the verse in Isaiah where he speaks of pouring water upon him that is thirsty and floods upon the dry ground is one few act upon today.

Lord Jesus may there be those who will realise that this is a promise which still applies today for it is the promise of a covenant-keeping God who must ever be true to the covenants which He has made. Lord Jesus please place a thirst within your Church to walk with you in heavenly places and to be prepared to be totally crucified with you in order to reach the highest place in the spiritual life.

This prayer seeks only to bring honour and glory to the name of our God. Amen.

2) That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.

Philippians chapter 3 verse 10

Lord Jesus Christ the longing of my heart is to know all of you and be like you having your heart of love for all whom you bring me into contact with each day. Lord day by day bring me into contact with at least one person who you want to love through me. There are so many in need of you in these days where humanly speaking there are people with no hope or purpose in life and are rejects of society.

Lord Jesus may I too enter fully into the fellowship of your sufferings that through that daily walking the way of the cross where self interests are dead there is only a concern to look to you and through knowing your sufferings enter into the agony of the depressed, the suicidal, the mentally tormented, those whose lives have been destroyed by drugs misuse and alcoholism and those whose lives in any way are broken. Society shuns these for whom you died or at best tries to bring human solutions which cannot bring healing, hope and purpose.

May I know this fellowship of suffering with each one by the only way of identification with their sufferings and to bear with them. Lord Jesus Christ may the Holy Spirit both carry His own burden and pray His intercessory prayers through me for everyone in the world who is suffering from these named afflictions. Lord Jesus Christ may the Holy Spirit so live through me that there will be invitations from all over the world to take meetings to pray in your name Jesus and see lives healed, lives delivered from the devil and through preaching Christ crucified lives which come to accept you as Saviour and Lord.

Lord there is power to overcome everything in the world through the name of Jesus and by your grace and no merits of my own for my life is dead and hid in yourself I know that the lives of all that the Holy Spirit ministers to through me in your name will be transformed.

This prayer seeks only to bring honour and glory to both my Heavenly Father and you dear holy and blessed Lord Jesus Christ. Amen.

3)  Giving thanks always for all things unto God and the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Ephesians chapter 5 verse 20

Father God your word speaks to the depths of our hearts when we listen to that still small voice. In the midst of a world full of other voices and many things which demand our attention may we learn to listen for your voice, the voice of our loving Father who will speak tenderly to us if only we give you the chance. Father how ungrateful we can be so wrapped up in the affairs of this world instead of obeying your word which says to seek the kingdom of God and His righteous first and all other things shall be added unto us.

May we obey your word and give you thanks through our Lord Jesus Christ for in Him you have given us all things necessary to this life. Father may we not be a self centred people but remember our brothers and sisters who daily suffer and are persecuted for their love of you.

Father may all who are in prison because they have chosen to live for Jesus be strengthened in their suffering and know that the presence of God sustains them and His love upholds them even when there appears to be no end to their suffering that deep identification with Jesus as the one who loved them so much that He showed them His own sufferings when He was despised and rejected.

This prayer seeks only to bring honour to our God. Amen.

4)  14 11 12

I delight to do thy will, O my God: Yea, thy law is within my heart.

Psalm 40 verse 8

Lord Jesus Christ you showed us how you accepted the perfect will of God. As you agonised in Gethsemane you submitted yourself to the perfect will of the Father. Lord from your heart came the acceptance that you had come to do the will of the Father at whatever cost to yourself. It was for condemned sinners who were cut off from a holy and righteous God that you said to your Father, “ nevertheless not my will, but thine, be done.”

Lord these words have reached into the hearts of your saints down the centuries who have delighted to do the will of God no matter what the cost to themselves even when this was suffering, persecution or martyrdom. Lord in these days may you find many who also delight to do the will of God as they are prepared to go all the way with yourself no matter what the cost.

Lord day by day I delight to do thy will, O my Go.

May you find many who will also delight to do thy will. This prayer seeks only to bring honour and glory to the name of our God. Amen.

5)  20 11 12

For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name’s sake.

Acts of the Apostles chapter 9 verse 16

Lord Jesus Christ no one suffered more than you. For our sakes you accepted the cup of suffering and drank every last drop. It was for the joy set before you that you were nailed to the cross despising the shame. Lord those who love you with all their heart and mind and soul and strength also enter into your sufferings.

Lord may there be an understanding that Christianity which does not accept the way of the cross is not of the true Jesus. The cross in our lives brings persecution and suffering. Whatever the persecution and suffering Lord be it through slander, strife, bitterness, reviling or many other evil ways none of these will hurt us. Let them Lord kindle a deeper love for yourself for the scriptures say “Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake.”

Lord like those of our brothers and sisters throughout the world who are persecuted because of their stand for you and especially those who are in prison because you are more to them t han even life itself may we rejoice because we have been counted worth to suffer for your name dear Lord. O to know that God wants witnesses of truth, witnesses to the fullness of redemption, witnesses to the deliverance from sin, from disease, witnesses that can claim souls for you blessed Lord, all because of the eternal power working in those whose lives are totally surrendered to you.

This prayer seeks only to bring honour to the name of our God. Amen.

6)  29 09 12:

But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

1 Peter chapter 1 verse 25

Lord Jesus Christ you are the living word. From everlasting to everlasting you are God; the unchangeable word of God. Our trust is in you for we have tasted and found that the Lord is good. Thank you Jesus that your word has been made known and those who have responded to the gospel message now know you as Lord and Saviour. Glory to your shed blood Jesus for it is in the blood that there is forgiveness and life; your life. Lord this prayer brings before you three Muslim asylum seekers from Central Asia.

Praise you Jesus that through a Bible study they have expressed a desire to get baptised. Bless you Jesus that repentance of sin and to be born again to life eternal is for the whosoever will come. Lord may the Holy Spirit lead asylum seekers throughout the world to those who are able to make known the gospel. Please Lord give all asylum seekers everywhere the chance to hear of you which they may not have had if they had still been in their country of birth.

Your ways are different from ours but even in the overwhelming need of those who are unloved please reach out to them so that they can know God, the living God. This prayer seeks only to bring honour to the name of our God. Amen.

7)  08 12 12

And it shall come to pass, that whosoever shall call on the name of the Lord shall be saved.

Acts of the Apostles chapter 1 verse 21

Lord Jesus Christ you are the Lord of glory. Lord you have won my love, every last bit for you are my lovely Jesus. I shall never be able to stop thanking you for taking my place on Calvary’s cross for it was my sin which condemned you to accept death in the sinners place. Jesus how can I comprehend your love as I consider that even if I had been the only sinner that there had ever been you would have still died for my sin.

Thank you Jesus for the cleansing of your precious blood which is the power of God unto salvation. O Jesus, blessed Jesus, death could not hold you for you rose triumphant, ascended into heaven and are glorified as you sit at the right hand of the Father having all power in heaven and upon earth. Lord even if you were able to find just a few believers who would realise your rightful place as sovereign Lord and pray along those lines the resistance of the powers of hell would be destroyed and your command to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature would be fulfilled. Lord you are God. Please hear this cry and find those who will act in belief because they are totally submitted to the Holy Spirit and it is not self which believes but the Holy Spirit believing through them. O for those at this time who can touch the throne of God in prayer.

Lord this cry is for those remote groups of people in the world who are from the human standpoint have proved difficult to reach. Lord whether these be people groups with none known believers, a difficult to reach Filipino group, Somalia, Afghanistan, Iran, Saudi Arabia, The Maldives, North Korea, Uzbekistan or wherever the devil places barriers in the way, in your name Lord Jesus Christ, that name higher than every other name I bind the strongman and loose the captives so that they can come to know you as their Saviour. Jesus why can I have such confidence in you? It is because the Word of God states that you are at the right hand of God far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. Not only this Jesus but it is further stated that all things have been put under your feet meaning you have already crushed the devil and all his forces so the devil has to give way.

Lord Jesus take the pre eminence and plunder the devil’s goods to the glory of God the Father. Thank you Jesus that vast numbers of souls in places where you have been shut out for too long will be able to call upon the name of the Lord and be saved. This prayer seeks only to bring honour to the name of our God. Amen.

8)  14 12 12

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them; and them which suffer adversity, as being yourselves also in the body.

Hebrews chapter 13 verse 3

Lord Jesus Christ you are worthy to be worshipped, praised and adored. Lord when we had no hope you laid your life down, the just for the unjust. Sin had cut us off from a holy and righteous God. Lord how can we ever thank you enough for dying in our place.

However much we thank you, Lord, it will always be inadequate. Yet you have brought us into your banqueting house and your banner over us is love. That Lord is God’s love for undeserving sinners. We who know you Lord as Saviour and Lord rejoice because you love us with an everlasting love. Thank you Jesus for the cleansing of your blood from all sin and stain.

As we are born again unto a new life, that like your own may we grow daily to become more like yourself, a life which is holy, righteous, pure. Lord please remember all those who have come to know you whilst in prison. May each one come grow in grace and the knowledge and love of yourself and be filled with all the fulness of God. Lord will you not call some o f those whose lives have been transformed by your life into training for the ministry.

You know the ministry in which I serve you is open to train anyone you send whatever their past may have been. Lord it is written that the harvest is great but the labourers are few. Pray ye that the Lord of the harvest will send labourers into his harvest. Lord I pray and ask for labourers because your word says to ask. This prayer seeks only to bring honour to the name of our God. Amen.

9)  01 10 15  Prayer

Overcoming oppression and depression.

But we trusted that it had been he which should have redeemed Israel: and beside all this, today is the third day since these things were done.

St. Luke 24:21

Father God let us be real with you and accept that should depression and oppression visit us then we are to blame and not God or anyone else. For these come from one of two sources which are that we have satisfied a lust or we have not.

A lust that we must have the something at once. Spiritual lust, Father, has us demanding an answer from God when we should be seeking God who will give us the answer. Show us Father to trust instead of questioning and insisting on the point of prayer for when we do we are off track with God. Let us have faith to trust you for then we will not have spiritual dejection which leads to depression and oppression.

May we see you, Father, in the common-place things and people around us.

Then we shall know your Son Jesus Christ to be our life rather than thinking we have a separate life apart from Him. Father this is asked in the name of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen.

10)  Prayer -11 October 2016

Prayer for those being persecuted.

Remember them that are in bonds, as bound with them.

Hebrews 13:3

Father these words make clear that many of our brethren in Christ are in prison because they live for Jesus Christ and will not deny Him. May these brethren experience in the midst of their suffering that the love of God in Christ Jesus will never separate them from their Heavenly Father.

May their brethren who are not in prison be identified with them in prayer so that there will be a supernatural bond which comes through the life of Jesus Christ dwelling in both those who are bound and those who are free.

Father this prayer is made through Jesus Christ our Lord so that you shall be glorified in the Son. Amen.

11)  Prayer -19 October 2019

“Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I unto this hour. Father, glorify thy name. Then came there a voice from heaven, saying, I have both glorified it, and will glorify it again. The people therefore, that stood by, and heard it, said that it thundered: others said, An angel spake to him.”

St. John 12:27-29

Lord Jesus Christ you were not saved from the hour of sorrow but out of the hour.

As a saint of God my attitude to sorrow and difficulty is not to be that these should be prevented but that I may be preserve the self which God created me to be through every fire of sorrow.

Lord sorrow is a fact of life.

Sin and sorrow and suffering cannot be denied. It is no use saying that God has made a mistake in allowing them.

Lord may I always be abandoned to thee even when sorrow and suffering come my way.

One look at Calvary and your own sorrow and suffering is sufficient to say not my will but thine be done to the glory of God the Father. Amen.

11)  Prayer -02 March 2020

The only Christian life is in Christ.

“That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death.” Philippians 3:10.

Lord Jesus Christ what joy it is to know thee. In knowing thyself is to have fullness of life.

This is not self-realisation which is that which the world seeks.

All circumstances to the man and woman of God are the means of coming into the full knowledge of thyself Lord Jesus Christ. For thou art God of God, very God of very God, begotten not made.

The only Son of the Father.

May all who call themselves Christian have this reckless abandonment about them whether man or woman so that the Father shall be glorified through Son. Amen.
